Panabad opens high-density frozen bakery logistics hub

Panabad has opened a 2,500 m² logistics centre in Sant Quirze del Vallès, near Barcelona, as the frozen bakery producer expands its operations. The facility uses Easy WMS from Mecalux and high-density storage with capacity for more than 3,000 pallets.

The warehouse handles over 200 SKUs of pre-cooked frozen bread products. Panabad processes more than 7,000 tonnes of flour each year and distributes to over 2,000 customers. The new site is intended to provide stronger traceability and a more efficient structure for receiving, storing and dispatching products.

Easy WMS registers every pallet entering the facility and allocates a location according to product turnover and volume. This gives the company a consistent method for managing inventory as its range and customer base grow. Further information on the software is available from Mecalux.

Temperature is maintained at -20°C, making warehouse productivity and employee exposure important operational considerations. Operators receive picking routes on radio-frequency terminals, with instructions designed to remove unnecessary travel. Panabad says the process helps orders move faster while reducing time spent in the cold environment.

The new centre gives Panabad additional capacity without relying solely on more floor space. By combining dense storage with software-based execution, the company has established a logistics platform designed to accommodate continued demand.
