BYD Commercial Vehicles has introduced the ETT 44 4×2, a 44-tonne electric tractor that the company says can cover up to 600km. The model was unveiled at IAA Transportation 2026 as part of an expanded European range.
The tractor uses a 651kWh Blade Battery and delivers more than 1,000hp, equivalent to 750kW. It supports charging at up to 1.5MW. BYD says its Flash Charging system can take the battery from 20% to 80% in about 20 minutes, providing up to 400km of additional range.
BYD is positioning the launch as an integrated commercial-vehicle proposition rather than a standalone truck sale. The package includes charging, energy storage, energy management, fleet-management tools and financing or leasing services. The approach is intended to reduce the complexity of electrifying transport operations and help maintain vehicle availability.
Range extends across operating segments
The ETT 44 leads a portfolio covering vehicles from 3.5 to 44 tonnes. Other introductions include heavy rigid trucks, a 26-tonne swap-body vehicle and hooklift models, alongside products for regional distribution, last-mile work and municipal services. Electric yard tractors are also part of the range, reflecting an application where predictable routes and controlled sites can support charging deployment.
BYD is also highlighting the T020 and T028 rigid models. The ETT 44 includes driver-oriented ergonomics, advanced driver assistance and a claimed five-star Euro NCAP rating.
