H&M Group has become a customer of Bleckmann, which has started supporting logistics for several H&M brands from its warehouse in Crick, near Northampton.
The operation went live in early August. The site is located in the East Midlands’ Golden Triangle, one of the UK’s key distribution areas, giving the partnership a strategically positioned base for fashion logistics.
AutoStore investment under way
Bleckmann is now implementing an advanced AutoStore system at the facility. The technology is intended to improve operating efficiency while adding capacity and flexibility as the relationship develops.
The investment forms part of Bleckmann’s wider effort to expand both its operations and customer portfolio in response to demand from existing and new clients. Reinardt van Oel, chief operations officer for Belgium and the United Kingdom, said the company was pleased to add H&M Group to its customer base.
The two companies marked the start of the collaboration at an event held at the warehouse. H&M Logistics and Bleckmann employees attended, together with Bleckmann CEO Gökalp Çak. Guests toured the facility and were introduced to the layout of the new operation and its operational team.
For H&M Group, the arrangement provides logistics support for multiple brands from a dedicated UK location. For Bleckmann, the Crick contract combines a new fashion-sector customer with an opportunity to deploy warehouse automation in an established distribution market.
