Würth Australia selects Dematic for distribution upgrade

Würth Australia is investing in an automated fulfilment solution for distribution facilities in Yatala, Queensland, and Keysborough, Victoria. Dematic will provide the technology for the project, which is designed to improve performance across the company’s national network.

The distributor supplies more than 22,000 products to over 56,000 active customers in industries including automotive, transport, construction, mining and maintenance. The planned system combines automated storage with manual handling areas to accommodate the breadth of the range.

An AutoStore goods-to-person installation will provide dense storage and support split-case and full-case picking. Products requiring different handling will be processed in dedicated manual zones. Orders will then move through automated conveying, document insertion, carton optimisation, sealing, labelling and despatch sortation.

Dematic’s Warehouse Control System will coordinate the equipment and picking tasks while interfacing with Würth Australia’s warehouse management system. The approach is intended to improve order accuracy and reliability while offering room for future expansion.

Serge Oppedisano, Würth Australia chief executive and senior vice president of the Würth Group Oceania, said the investment would strengthen inventory management and product flow as well as customer service.

The Yatala solution is scheduled to go live in August 2027. The larger Keysborough facility is expected to follow in December 2027.
