Logistik Schmitt has gone live with the cloud-native Infios Yard system at its Rastatt operation, extending the logistics provider’s use of Infios technology beyond warehouse management.
The site operates on the premises of a car manufacturer and manages approximately 450 trailer and swap-body movements each day through 150 gates. The yard platform provides visibility of inbound and outbound movements, supports slot allocation and coordinates traffic between staging areas, loading docks and local suppliers.
Infios Yard also includes a self-service dock-management capability tailored to Logistik Schmitt’s requirements. The company can manage gate processes independently, including activities involving external service providers. The deployment is intended to improve process stability and reduce vehicle waiting times in a time-critical automotive supply environment.
Logistik Schmitt already uses Infios Warehouse Management at multiple other locations. Those operations support production-synchronous logistics for engines, transmissions and axles, including just-in-time and just-in-sequence deliveries, replenishment and sequencing.
The Rastatt project gives the German transport and contract logistics specialist a separate digital layer for controlling the interface between road transport and the manufacturing site. Its modular structure allows the company to address yard performance while retaining existing warehouse capabilities.
Based in Bietigheim, Logistik Schmitt focuses on complex manufacturing logistics, particularly for automotive customers. The company and Infios plan to continue developing operational performance as vehicle production becomes more complex through electrification and new manufacturing models.
