Loadsmart has entered Brazil with Opendock, its cloud platform for freight appointment scheduling and yard management. The launch took place at the Intra-Log Expo South America in São Paulo.
The system combines dock appointments with gatehouse and yard control, giving logistics operators one view of vehicle arrivals, departures and dock activity. It is intended to replace coordination through separate emails, calls and spreadsheets.
Opendock includes real-time asset tracking, yard-layout configuration and two-way driver communication. Its SmartGate module uses AI-powered computer vision to record vehicle movements and associate the images with scheduled appointments.
Loadsmart says the platform connects more than 4,000 warehouses and 230,000 carriers worldwide and processes over 14 million appointments annually. Data from its US operations between 2022 and 2024 showed a 62% reduction in waiting times, a 31% increase in dock turnover and an 88% improvement in punctuality. Appointment-confirmation contacts fell 45%.
Brazil is being treated as a strategic Latin American market. Loadsmart co-founder Felipe Capella said waiting times at large Brazilian logistics centres can reach 11 hours, compared with less than two hours in the US. He also put Brazilian logistics costs at about 15.5% of GDP, versus 8.8% in the US.
The company, founded in 2014 by Ricardo Salgado and Felipe Capella, demonstrated Opendock at booth 807 at Intra-Log. Its teams met manufacturers, warehouses, distribution centres, carriers, shippers and logistics providers as Loadsmart develops its Brazilian presence.
