DPD’s new Forrest Park distribution centre in Newton Aycliffe has been equipped with entrance and loading-bay systems supplied and installed by ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems. The project is designed to support increased parcel-handling capacity across North East England.
The site was developed by Barberry, constructed by Caddick Construction and designed by AJA Architects. Its access package includes 32 insulated OH1042P sectional overhead doors. A vertical-lift track layout preserves space around the openings, while the doors provide insulation and are intended for demanding operational use.

Twenty-five units are 6,160mm-wide level-access doors for key warehouse routes. Seven others include centrally mounted pass doors with 30mm low thresholds, panic bars and integrated safety switches. Wind-reinforcement trusses provide additional structural support.
The installation also covers 11 complete loading bays. Each bay combines an OH1042P dock door with two rows of vision panels and a DL6220T telescopic dock leveller. The levellers have a six-tonne capacity and a 500mm telescopic lip, supporting vehicle access across different trailer configurations.
Dock shelters, buffers and wheel guides complete the bays. Finished in RAL 5010 blue, the integrated package is intended to improve loading efficiency, protect goods during transfer and create safer conditions for drivers and warehouse personnel. The combination of insulated access doors and dock equipment also supports vehicle turnaround and the building’s energy-efficiency objectives.
