Speedpac, a prominent third-party logistics and contract packaging provider, has significantly upgraded its loading operations through the deployment of a Hörmann Transdek Vehicle-to-Ground (V2G) yard lift at its Wellingborough facility.

The lift was introduced in response to a substantial new contract requiring the rapid loading and unloading of double-deck trailers and other types of fleet vehicles, all directly from the warehouse floor—eliminating the need for traditional dock levellers.

The 12-pallet V2G solution — offering a robust 5.3-ton capacity and featuring a generous 2 500 × 6 900 mm platform — enables full articulated trucks to be handled in just a few lift cycles. The unit is powered by a single hydraulic ram, ensuring dependable, low-maintenance operation.

Notably, the V2G lift was installed within an existing temporary structure on-site, demonstrating its adaptability to space-constrained or non-permanent environments. Its modular design also makes it especially valuable for businesses that need scalable solutions to rapidly adjust to fluctuating demand.

David Brocklehurst, Managing Director at Speedpac, commented: “The V2G lift has provided an immediate and cost-effective loading solution, enabling us to operate efficiently ahead of the completion of our new dock installation project — all without the need for expensive and disruptive civil works.” He added that the lift is “a robust, highly efficient, and user-friendly system that has already become a vital asset to our operations, supporting a major new contract six days a week.”

He further praised the Hörmann Transdek team for delivering the project on time, on budget, and with the highest level of professionalism, noting that the installation has markedly enhanced Speedpac’s operational flexibility and capacity, making it easier to manage complex loading requirements across diverse vehicle types.
