FIATA selects Barcelona for 2027 European logistics meeting

Barcelona has been selected to host the FIATA-REU Field Meeting from 9 to 11 June 2027. The European gathering will take place alongside SIL Barcelona, creating a combined event for freight forwarders, logistics operators, cargo agents, shippers, ports, airports and supply-chain companies.

The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) secured the event. FIATA Director General Stéphane Graber announced the decision at the federation’s 2026 World Congress in Milan, held as FIATA marks its centenary.

The parallel programmes are expected to raise Barcelona’s international profile and strengthen its position as a logistics gateway for Southern Europe. The city also aims to highlight its links with the Mediterranean, Africa, Asia and Latin America, while giving companies a forum for commercial and strategic discussions.

CZFB Executive President Pere Navarro said the appointment recognised Barcelona’s established logistics ecosystem. General Director Blanca Sorigué said the meeting would attract expertise, talent and international connections, while showcasing regional innovation.

FIATA’s international role

FIATA was founded in Vienna in 1926 and is headquartered in Geneva. It brings together 106 national associations from nearly 150 countries, representing more than 50,000 companies and over 4,700 individual members. Its work covers freight-transport standards, international documentation, training and logistics digitalisation.

The federation also works with organisations including the WTO and IATA. The Barcelona programme will therefore bring together stakeholders involved in the rules, infrastructure and operating practices shaping cross-border supply chains.
