IMI takes full supply-chain software suite into UK market

Swedish supply-chain software company IMI has launched its full portfolio in the UK following the January acquisition of OMS Limited, the British developer of the Vitesse warehouse labour management system.

The move gives UK operators access to more than warehouse productivity software. IMI’s portfolio now covers inventory planning, order management, warehouse management, freight cost management and delivery management. The company is targeting businesses seeking tighter control of labour and transport spending across multi-site distribution operations.

IMI has continued supporting Vitesse customers including Mountain Warehouse, Poundland and Morrisons. It says its UK customer base has grown by 20% since the acquisition and that it intends to expand its UK team as it develops its presence in Britain and Europe.

Martin O’Grady, IMI’s manager of product and development, said operators were looking for clearer visibility of warehouse performance and labour costs. He added that differing working practices between sites can make network-wide comparisons difficult, while labour and freight remain major cost pressures before peak season.

IMI serves more than 400 customers across Europe in retail, e-commerce, wholesale and distribution, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals and third-party logistics. Its UK activity is supported by a local team and the company’s existing European organisation.

CEO Niklas Rönnbäck said the OMS acquisition had provided a foundation for UK growth. IMI presents the portfolio launch as part of its ambition to build a leading European supply-chain software suite and says it will continue investing in its UK team.
