S.OLIVER GROUP selects Nomagic for AI warehouse automation

S.OLIVER GROUP is introducing AI-enabled warehouse robotics from Nomagic at its logistics site in Dettelbach, Germany. The system will automate induction for a broad range of fashion products, including shoeboxes.

The project addresses a longstanding limitation in general-purpose robotic picking. Shoeboxes have traditionally been difficult to handle automatically, restricting the range of fashion goods that can be processed within one automated flow.

Wider automation coverage

Nomagic’s Shoebox Picker combines AI-based perception with adaptable robotic manipulation. For S.OLIVER GROUP, the technology is intended to reduce repetitive manual handling and bring a larger share of its assortment into automated operations.

The installation is also positioned as a capacity measure. By automating recurring induction work, the company aims to establish a more scalable logistics setup that can support future volume growth without relying on a wholly separate process for shoeboxes.

Kacper Nowicki, Nomagic’s CEO and co-founder, said the project applies the company’s Physical AI platform to a wider set of fashion items in a live logistics environment. Markus Steinmann, managing director of logistics at S.OLIVER GROUP, described the deployment as the next stage of the company’s automation strategy, with expected benefits in efficiency, flexibility and operational performance.

The decision reflects a broader direction in industrial automation: AI-equipped robots are increasingly being applied where product variety, rather than simple repetition, is the main operational challenge.
