Romac Logistics is expanding its UK cold-chain fleet with 100 moving double-deck refrigerated trailers from Tiger Trailers and 200 Renault Trucks T480 tractor units supplied by Diamond Trucks.
The programme follows the opening of the company’s flagship distribution facility in Chesterfield and is intended to increase capacity as customer demand grows. Romac said the combined investment in infrastructure and vehicles will support service reliability, safety and operational resilience.
The new trailers can carry up to 54 pallets and use Thermo King A500 single-temperature refrigeration units. Their moving double-deck configuration is designed to increase payload capacity and reduce the number of vehicle movements needed to transport chilled or frozen products.
Alongside potential efficiency and sustainability benefits, the trailers have been specified with operator safety and durability in mind. The 200 Renault Trucks T480s extend Romac’s established relationship with Renault Trucks and Diamond Trucks, with the manufacturer highlighting fuel efficiency, uptime, safety and driver comfort.
The latest Tiger Trailers order follows earlier deliveries of 60 ambient curtainsiders and 20 single-deck refrigerated trailers. Romac founder Rob McAdoo said the fleet expansion was needed to develop in parallel with the Chesterfield site and provide customers with greater capacity and resilience.
